Donald Curtis was a Prolific Science of Mind Speaker and Writer. Donald Curtis was an phenomenal leader in the area of New Thought and metaphysics for over twenty years, Dr. Donald Curtis was the senior minister of the Unity Church of Dallas where he ministered to thousands from the pulpit and through his regular radio and television programs.

Donald Curtis was born Curtis Rudolf (later changed his name) in Eugene, orgeon, but was raised on a farm near Spokane, Washington. His father, Cark Rudolf, was an elected as the Country Commissioner of Spokane for four consecutive years. As Donald Curtis reached adulthood, he went on to college and in 1936 he received a B.S. from the School of Speech, in Evanston, Illinois, and also an M.A. from Northwestern University in 1937. He then began work as an instructor for the

From 1949 and 1953, he began a Science of Mind student and started training for practitioner and ministry in the Church of Truth, and the First Church of Religious Science in New York, which was Frederick Bailes' ministry. In 1954, Donald Curtis became minister of Santa Barbara Church of Religious Science, until 1957 when he then became Minister-Director of Science of Mind Church, in Los Angeles. It was at this time that Curtis became the publisher for a monthly magazine entitled "The Golden Bridge". In 1968, Donald Curtis became Minister of First Church of Religious Science in Dallas, Texas. He was also the originator and speaker on a "Science of Mind" TV program on a local station for 36 weeks, also having daily radio vignettes on WFAA Radio annd interviews on many other radio stations. Curtis was also a popular guest speaker for various organizations.

In 1969, Donald Curtis founded the Science of Mind Church and Institute of Dallas, Texas, where he also served as minister. He also founded the Science of Mind Church of Houston. Curtis also headed a staff of several ministers and teachers at the Christ-centered ministry of the Unity Church of Dallas. Donald Curtis was a noteworthy author and lecturer in his time. In addition to his many popular books, he authored many inspirational mini-booklets and wrote numerous articles which appeared regularly over the years in the Science of Mind magazine, and the New Thuoght Quarterly, as well as Unity periodicals. Curtis' writings have been used as textbooks for healing, meditation, and spiritual education in many churches and spiritual centers around the country.

Donald Curtis also held many sales and executive and leadership training seminars that became widely popular in the business and profressional fields. He was in great demand at conventions and was also a service club speaker. Curtis was a regular speaker and teacher at the International New Thought Alliance Congress each year. Through the Spiritual Unity of Nations and other organizations throughout the world, Dr. Curtis worked tirelessly writing, speaking, teaching and lecturing about human understanding, international cooperation, and world peace.

Curtis also traveled often and took his teachings internationally, carrying on corresponence with readers, teachers and students from all over the world. He studied the world religions and even studied with the yogis and holy men of India, spending time in ashrams, as well as seeking out the counsel and instruction of Buddhist monks and Tibetan lamas. While in Japan, he studied the Oriental healing techniques, Zen, and researched Shinto and many of the older tradional religions. He spoke at many religious and spiritual centers during his travels and even gave an extensive lecture tour for Seicho-No-Ie, founded by Masaharu Taniguchi. He printed sermons and casette tape recordings which he sent to students throughout the world. With his extensive background and universal approach to spiritual matters, he was welcomes in all religious groups. Donald Curtis was truly an outstanding man and became one of the most active and influential figures in the New Thought Movement.

Dr. Curtis's broad background and universal approach to spiritual matters made him welcome in all religious groups. His printed sermons and cassette tape recordings awere sent to students throughout the world. He headed a staff of several ministers and teachers at the Christ-centered ministry of the Unity Church of Dallas.

Donald Curtis passed on to a broader field of service on 22nd May 1997. He will be remembered as one of the most versatile, active, and influential figures in the New Thought Movement over the past fifty years.
